Release: 0.3.1
So, after I wrote only four little lines about the new release of LambdaRogue, I will now edit this blog entry to provide a little more information. First of all, you might have noticed it already, I released the next major update on LambdaRogue, we are now at 0.3.1, which polishes many things, improves the look (both in console and SDL mode) and offers many new features which should make gameplay more interesting.

downloads for 0.3.1 are available as SourceForge. Download size is about 8 MB.I will also release an update on the LambdaRogue soundtrack (about 60 MB), but this will be in the form of a patch for the existing soundtrack archive; I don't have the internet speed to upload such big files.

The Wilderness
A monster's hive in the dungeonGeneral Changes (selection)
- improved Line of Sight (LOS) which does not stop before blocking objects anymore
- removed the need to press Enter after most messages
- a quickstart option which offers 4 predefined character types to start with; this makes the beginning of the game easier, as you don't need to think about skill distribution etc. and start with a well-skilled character. This is mainly for new players
- many new items with new effects (e.g. weapons with magical bonus etc.)
- new unique monsters
- two alternate ways to win the game (with two different endings)
- many balancing tweaks
Interface Changes in SDL Mode- tile size on the map has been doubled (20*40 now instead 10*20)
- some of the bigger tiles use several graphics from the "Absurd"-tileset for Nethack
- the borders between water and land (shore tiles) and grass and sand looks smoother
- a minimap showing your global position and the position of quest relevant NPCs (after you talked with them the first time)
Interface Changes in Console Mode (selection)
- optimized colors for several spell effects, items and dungeon features
- the help screen provides a list of the most important characters and their meaning
Bugfixes- entering dlv 8 produced an endless loop while trying to place treasure chests
- sometimes water monsters appeared at wrong places
- sometimes cave worm guano overlapped the entrance to the dungeon
- when entering the first dlv, the player was not placed at the dungeon entrance
- when items in shops were marked both as profession-bound and level-bound, this was unreadable (because the two remarks overlapped each other)
- long-range attacks of monsters hit the player even if he had a barrier
- console mode on Windows did not allow entering of uppercase letters
- although paralized, sometimes movement was possible
- the "Ring of Agility" could not be equipped
- sometimes new characters started with equipment that need a clvl greater than 1
- Pindar (in DLV 5) promised to give the player 150 Cr, but instead gave a "Golden Ring"
- Several typos
