Status Report on 0.3.1 Development

I've finished the graphical changes for SDL mode, except perhaps the brightness of newly introduced tiles. This I'll have to check before 0.3.1 will be released. Besides this issue, the adjustments for doubled tile size are complete and I will now concentrate on gameplay additions.v-dlv1-1.png(Click on the images to zoom in and see details)To make the game look more interesting, 0.3.1's dungeon levels will be more varied than at the moment. Currently, everything except the 5th level looks nearly the same: grey. For some levels, this will change, and the game will look less boring than at the moment. Some screenshots:Varied Floorv-dlv2-1.pngChanged Font for Monsters and Playerv-dlv4-1.pngThe 5th Level stays the samev-dlv5-1.pngA Deeper Level with Another Type of Rockv-dlv8-1.pngSome tiles will also have a meaning for gameplay. Ash, for example, exists since several releases, but has no effect. This will change. There's also a new floor type which provides new possibilities for dungeon interaction. In current releases, nothing happens to the player when he's attacking a monster's hive; monsters just stand still and watch. This was a bug that will be fixed in the next release. Wiping out a hive now will be a real challenge. The town in the wilderness will be replaced by several small buildings scattered through the landscape. Because of this, nearly every building will have a meaning instead being empty. So entering building is more rewarding than currently. Finally, there will also be more items with new effects, and more items can be combined with dungeon features (altars, wells etc.)
